工作坊介紹
臺灣文學的多元樣貌所創造出的文學不只活在華文書寫的作品，也包含了來自多元語言與文化的聲音及聲腔，這些語言涵蓋台語、客語，以及各種不同的原住民族語。這些聲音，以及尚未被充分看見的文化脈絡與紋理，是臺灣蓬勃的文學風景中不可或缺的一部分。面對多重語言與文化交織的創作過程與場域，身為文學譯者，該如何運用創意與對不同文學主題與文化本身的的深入瞭解，建立尊重、敏銳與懷有情感的創作環境，和富有獨特意義的翻譯創作歷程？
「嗓音」與「聲腔」的敘事形塑，是文學翻譯中最重要的實踐之一。原文與譯文的語言，該如何在轉譯之間有所詮釋，並兼顧文化的命脈？我們可以如何傳達對話中隱含的語氣、情感層次與社會脈絡，同時也保留發聲者的語言習慣與節奏？面對不同的口述習慣、口音，以及不同語言彼此交互影響所形成的語言樣貌，我們又能如何賦予不同的聲音靈魂與回應？有什麼樣的創意元素，可以讓敘事者或是角色的聲音更加鮮活？
每一種文化對自身文化與身份認同都有各自的敏感性。然而，在國際文壇中，我們可以如何持續關注並回應全球議題的發展與討論？面對不同的社會議題時，我們如何以尊重與敏銳的態度加以理解與迴響？而在英語世界和臺灣，這些議題又是如何被報導、討論？我們又能以什麼方式，同時關注國際社會間語言與文化的敏感性，同時也兼顧、立足於臺灣當下持續流動浮現的的社會議題探討？
兩天的工作坊也將邀請三位客座講者，包含長期投身翻譯實務及學術研究的李根芳教授、 與客語有緊密連結的臺灣作家高翊峰老師，以及具有國際出版實務經驗的作家梁震牧老師，分別於兩天的課程中，透過兩場與Jenna的對談，與大家分享他們的創作與跨文化經驗，並以Q&A作結。
導師介紹
Jenna Tang，紐約The New School 創意寫作系碩士畢業，臺灣駐紐約的作家與譯者。目前從事中、英、西、法文相關文學及其他領域的筆譯、口譯，時不時會駐紮在秘魯、阿根廷、哥倫比亞、墨西哥等拉丁美洲國家。現任美國文學翻譯協會董事委員及性別與種族平等委員會長。曾經與臺灣作家吳明益、紀大偉、林奕含、劉芷妤、甘耀明、張郅忻等人合作，2024五月於美國、加拿大等國家發表了《房思琪的初戀樂園》英文版、2024年十一月於英國Strangers Press 發表了劉芷妤的〈別人的孩子〉。英文譯作及創作曾發表於 The Paris Review, Lit Hub, Fare Magazine, AAWW, McSweeney’s, Catapult, World Literature Today, Words Without Borders。曾經帶過《房》書到美加等地超過22個城市巡迴，現在專心致力於提倡客語及原住民文學。
客座講者介紹
李根芳，英國Sussex大學英美文學博士，現任國立臺灣師範大學翻譯研究所教授，研究領域涵蓋性別研究、翻譯研究與全球在地化。著有《全球在地化的文化翻譯》、《不安於是：西洋女性文學十二家》，譯有《女戰士》、《在其他世界: 史碧瓦克文化政治論文選》、《歐蘭多》、《論自我與寫作：吳爾芙散文集》、《反對愛情》、《勘誤表》等。
高翊峰 Kao Yi-Feng，臺灣小說家、國立臺北藝術大學文學跨域創作研究所副教授。出生於苗栗頭份的客家人，曾擔任雜誌總編輯、電視電影編劇、廣播主持人與電視訪談節目主持人。已出版長篇小說：《跳童》、《2069》、《泡沫戰爭》、《幻艙》、短篇小說集：《烏鴉燒》、《一公克的憂傷》、《奔馳在美麗的光裡》、《傷疤引子》、《肉身蛾》、散文集：《聊聊》、《恍惚，靜止卻又浮現：威士忌飲者的緩慢一瞬》。
梁震牧，國立臺灣師範大學翻譯研究所博士生，國立臺灣大學人類學碩士，專職圖書與電影字幕翻譯的泰文譯者。譯有《佛曆西沉與黑玫瑰貓的記憶的記憶》、《迷宮中的盲眼蚯蚓》等泰國小說。

Selection Quota and Eligibility: Anyone aged 18 or above with an interest in translating Taiwanese literature into English is welcome to apply. Whether you are emerging translators, working professionals, undergraduate, graduate students or beyond, this workshop is for you. Selected participants may attend the workshops for free.

Workshop Description
Literature from Taiwan not only includes works written in Mandarin Chinese, but it also includes voices from a diversity of languages and cultures, such as Tâi-gí, Hakka, and various Indigenous languages. These voices and their yet-unseen cultural textures and veins are vital to Taiwan’s literary landscape. While working with a convergence of languages and cultures, how can we shape ourselves as literary translators, and how can we build a respectful, sensible, and caring infrastructure for the creative process?
Voice-shaping is one of the most important practices in translated literature. How does the language sound, both in the original and in the target language? How do we render the undertone, emotional textures, and social context embedded in conversations, while also conveying the habits and rhythms of the speakers? How do we find ways to shape different voices, taking into account accents and the influence of various languages? What makes a voice come alive?
Every culture has its own sensitivities surrounding culture and identity, but in the international literary world, how do we continue to remain aware of and attuned to global developments and conversations? How do we approach social issues with respect and sensitivity, and how are these issues framed and discussed in both the English-speaking world and Taiwan? How do we remain attentive to international linguistic and cultural sensitivities while also staying grounded in the social issues emerging in Taiwan?
The 2-day workshop will also invite three guest speakers, including Ken-fang Lee, a translator and scholar long engaged in both translation practice and academic research; Kao Yi-Feng, a Taiwanese writer with a deep connection with the Hakka language and culture, as well as writer Liang Chen-Mu, whose expertise encompasses translating from Thai into Mandarin, as well as navigating in the ins and outs of international publishing beyond the English sphere to be in conversation with Jenna across the two-day workshop.
